Considering Legal Options – Saanich Man Says Incident Left Him Feeling Worthless

Victoria – A 19-year-old Saanich man says he is considering his legal options.

Tyler Archer says he was attacked by a group of strangers at around 12:30 a.m. on March 21st.

Archer says when police arrived his friends told officers what happened.

But instead of helping him, Archer says police kicked him.

Archer’s lawyer, Richard Neary says his client was confused and trying to comply with police.

Victoria Police say the three officers who arrived on scene initially saw a man lying on the ground after allegedly being kicked in the head by a suspect.

Sgt. Grant Hamilton says in a situation involving an all out brawl and possible serious injuries, the area could be a serious crime scene.

Victoria Police Chief Jamie Graham says until people can be secured and searched properly, officers are not going to take chances.

Chief Graham says he has no doubt the Vancouver Police Department will conduct a thorough and independent investigation into the incident.
