is it legal for a local news company to report about a dui arrest?

a friend of mine recently got a dui, when she googled her name a local news company made a report about her. is this legal? she called the campany and they had it removed, but i would still like to know if it is legal to do.

Yes. Police reports and arrest records are a matter of public information. The Police department has a legal obligation to make this information public, and once its a matter of public record, anybody can re-print it.

Yes, it’s legal. Police records including court and arrests are a matter of public matter. Most newspapers have articles about people that were arrested and what for. It is completely legal for them to do that. They were under no obligation to remove it, she should feel lucky they did.
