Is it legal to sell a Paintball DVD that has short news clips in it from CNN?

I am in the process of creating a DVD with footage from a paintball game in which I hosted. It is a scenario game that is based around real events. I was wanting to incorporate real news footage into the DVD. I will be selling these DVDs. Is using CNN’s news footage in this way illegal without obtaining their permission? Or would putting the footage on a paintball DVD be considered fair use?

Technically, even to use it can be a good bit of trouble. Stay away from it man, it can create a big stink fast. A DVD is a DVD, for sale or not, but especially for sale… and the topic has no bearing.

Here is what you can do, use the information you gather and report it there yourself, or have someone else do it, or you can go through the trouble of gathering all of the releases you’ll need, which will be several and will all cost money…. Personally, I’d go with the cheaper option.

I think you would have to get written permission if you’re going to be making money off of it.
