    Speed limits, …
    Speed limits, traffic signals, all have been studied more and more over the years. Some convincing evidence is being compiled that traffic moves faster and safer w/o signals or limits. Do we really think people will try to kill themslves drag racing backwards on freeways if some cop, or some posted rule, wasn’t there to tell us not to?

    OK, here’s the …
    OK, here’s the solution…pick certain highways in the state tha are safer for high speads. Install tolls at each entrance/ $5.00 from everyone-no matter what speed they want to go. But, increase limit to 85MPH. Yeah, people will pay it.

    He should do that, …
    He should do that, but not let people with mustangs do it.
    Why? Because people who drive mustangs are ASSHOLES. In my experience, every time I get in front of a mustang they have to drive like they can’t tell the difference between the profile of a horse on their car and the profile of a horse on a certain other car makers car ( I’ll give you a hint : their italia
    Unless it says Shelby on the side and has a cobra on the front. That’s a differnent story.

    @codediporpal I …
    @codediporpal I find it a bit ironic that you are trying to say NV is a high density state, where as MT is a low density state.

    Granted, I find it totally irrelevant to my point, but as a person who has spent a lot of time traveling the roads in the west and mid west, I’ve spent quite a bit of time in both states. I won’t argue there is higher density in NV vs MT, but trying to suggest there is some significant difference traffic-wise between the two is absurd.

    @NoogLeader Maybe I wasn’t paying close enough attention, but I thought the video mentioned 90mph being the top speed they would allow paying in advance. But, if you’ve found more accurate info that says 125, then right on. I didn’t do any further research. lol.

    Yeah, 125mph wouldn’t be bad either… whatever gets it over more quickly.

    @kenji4861 Not in the context of the argument, which is that people always go at different speed, which is a counter to your argument that 90 is dangerous because it’s a different speed to people going at 70.

    come one guys – when you hit the Nevada state line you are less than 40 miles from Las Vegas – you can cut your travel time from 40 miutes at 65 to 26 minutes, so you save 14 minutes after spending 5 hours to get from Santa Monica to San Bernadino …. RIIIIIGGGGHHHTTTTTT

    @cheddyrod …
    @cheddyrod Wikipedia isn’t reliable. Checked references, they suck, but did some digging and it looks interesting. I have seen studies that indicate that Autobahn accidents are high though. And a low accident rate on the Autobahn might not be indicated in other countries.
    On price, the Autobahns are expensive and well maintained to help reduce accidents.
    I’ll do a little more digging and ask my GF (she works for a road research institute) for some data.

    @kellygiz They have …
    @kellygiz They have been and continue to do so every single year. My last speeding ticket cost was set at over $300 for 10mph over the posted limit. I lived in Vegas at that time. Oh, and this was just a couple years ago.

    (October 31, 2010 - 4:36 pm)

    very few ppl …
    very few ppl remember this period, but back in the 60’s and early 70’s, before the national 55mph speed limit, it was COMPLETELY legal to drive as fast as you wanted to on posted roads in Nevada. Specifically, the road from California to Vegas was one of those roads. As such, suggesting such a method to bring in income to the State really isn’t as ludicrous as it may sound. All the Nevadans would be doing is to revert back to the pre 55mph days of 40+ years ago, with an added toll to the mix.
