What role does the supreme court play in a presidental election?

I understand that voters will vote for the next president but are there any circumstances where the supreme court will intervene?
I care that’s why I asked the question, idiot. Seriously, duh.

Read about the 2000 election.

The supreme court decided the election in favor of Bush.

during any election and throughout their tenure in office, the SC has the mandate and power to wear whatever kind of underwear they want under those black robes and say whatever they want on live TV about the elected president
